It's been a while, hasn't it? Brian wrote the last post when I was in the states for 3 weeks. I returned from the US after visiting 5 cities & countless family and friends, and it was awesome. Two days after returning to Spain, we flew to Northern Italy to spend 10 days traveling around. After Italy, we had one weekend, one glorious, relaxed weekend at home which we spent all of it in our pajamas, sitting around the house. It was just what we needed. Then, it was off to Prague for a 4 day holiday! I'm here to show you a little bit of that...
To get to Prague, we had to fly through Frankfurt. They overbooked the flight and were looking for people to take a bump for the next flight in the morning. We each got $250 euros, dinner, breakfast & a free hotel stay for our willingness, and we were off to Prague 12 hours later with some sweet cash in our pockets! I love Lufthansa. And German Pretzels.
Once we arrived, we headed straight to the touristy stuff, of course. This is the main cathedral - Tyn Church in old town, situated right on the main square.

During WWII & the Holocaust, Hitler decided that Prague had the best historical collection of the Jews life, culture, religion - he decided that he would preserve the Jewish Quarter of the city as a "Museum to the extinct Jewish Race." Though that was an awful thought, we are left with some beautiful synagogues and this cemetery that is over 500 years old, which Brian & I toured.

Brian usually leaves all the trip planning to me, but on this one, he managed to find a place called the "Beer Museum." Of course, that was a necessary stop, but it essentially was just a pub with a whole lot of local beers on tap. We loved it, and met some new friends from the Lake Country in England to talk to for most of our night there.
We also checked out the Museum of Communism, which was super interesting. And had great ads. We thought Lenin might be rolling in his grave to know that it was next to a casino & above a McDonalds.
Architecture Love: This is fondly known as the Fred & Ginger Building - see how they look like they're dancing together? You can almost see the swish of Ginger's skirt. Designed by Frank Gehry, who also did the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

We're (and by we I mean Brian) are terrible at getting (being willing to take) pictures of the two of us when we're traveling, so we'll have to be better about that in the future. Here's our only photo together from this trip...
I know my photos don't do it justice (the weather was crummy for taking photos and I'm not that great at knowing how to use my camera in those conditions) but Prague is the most beautiful city we've been in. The architecture, culture, food, the river, art - all these things made it an amazing place to visit. It was unharmed in WWII, and the buildings are so well preserved, respected, and utilized. I'd very highly recommend it to anyone!
